Further to the Parish Council meeting the previous week an Extra-Ordinary Meeting was held on 17th October in order to make a decision on the request from the group known as “Save Cheveley from Over Development” regarding possible payment for legal advice out of public funds to attempt to stop the planning application in respect of 10 houses to the rear of The Paddocks being approved. Four of the members of this group were present together with a journalist from the local press.
They asked if the council would be prepared to pay for this advice from a solicitor that they knew of, or if it would consider the option to apply and pay for this advice itself as part of its objection to the application. The council considered this suggestion and also whether it should engage the services of an alternative solicitor specialising in planning matters. The implications of this matter were discussed at length following which a vote was taken and the request was turned down by a majority.
